The Roommates - Our History

Good morning everyone, my name is Alice. I'm a year old today!
(Happy Birthday, Ali-cat!)
Oh, that? That was my roommate, Sarah. She takes care of me... for the most part.
(What an opinion you have of me, Alice!)
This blog was designed by her to tell a couple funny stories and hopefully keep your interest in the lives of me and my older relatives!
See, at the moment there are quite a few of us. I'll listen them and eventually my roommate will post the pictures so you can see what all of them look like!

The oldest cat in the house is my mama, Abby. She's about five years old. My roommate's little guy (My nephew) adopted her as a birthday present last year. I guess Mama was on her last day at That Place and the little guy liked her because she was a different color from my other relatives!
Mama came home with them but still acted funny. My roommate asked the people who work at That Place about it and they told her it was nothing to worry about. Guess it was something to worry about because *snickering* she got out the door one night when my roommate's Dad was letting the dog out. They looked all over but mama wouldn't come back until the next morning.
Everyone thought she was just gaining weight really quickly, but she wasn't... she was pregnant with me and my siblings!
A couple months later and there were five of us.
My roommate didn't know she was going to keep me after I was born, she already had a lot of kitty cats when it happened. But pretty quickly she noticed I wasn't eating right and had some stomach issues. She took me over to the Poking Place and the man there said I needed some work. My roommate, she didn't have a lot of money, but she worked very hard and did her best; and the Man said that he'd help her out. I guess what that means is that he fixed what was wrong with me and 'Fixed' me as well for a flat price. I don't know exactly what the whole 'Fixed' thing is about but oh well.
(The Vet fixed her for free after doing a surgery to repair a tear in her stomach. I am so thankful he did that to help me out since going back and doing it again later would be very risky with the type of problems Alice had and how little she was at the time this all was going on!)
Well, eventually it came time to find homes for the rest of my siblings, since my Roommate's mama let me stay. I was sad to see them go!

Soon it was just my roommate and myself, but two of them went to live with her friends so she still gets to see them if she wants. Their names are Jack and Kelly but when I knew them it was Oddball and Bear.
I like it here, I'm never bored because I have a lot of relatives here. See, while mama and I are happy, there were a lot of others who came before and some who've Gone On. My roommate says they need to go in order now since I started out of order, Mama and I were actually the last ones to be added to the family!

The original cat was one I didn't know. She was a birthday gift from my roommate when she was nothing more than a baby herself!
(I was two when she was given to my family)
Her name was Thunder and she, like me, was solid black with a white patch. I'm actually related to her very distantly. See, one of the kittens she had before she was 'Fixed' ended up being the grandma of my daddy. It's a long story and makes my head hurt to think about it too much; my Roommate can explain it.

(Thunder gave birth to two litters of kittens before we fixed her. Most were given to family friends but a couple ended up at the Pet store. We found out that that store continued to get cats from that family line because of how attractive they looked. Years later, my sister and I went in and picked out a cat who was the exact twin the Thunder. Turns out that the reason for that was because he was from her family line. He got loose and we were unable to find him, but knew he was in the area.
Since most of the wild cats in my area are white or multicolored, we had no doubts upon seeing the kittens as to who had fathered them)

Thunder lived with my roommate until she got really old and sick. My roommate was sixteen when Thunder went to the Other Place and didn't hurt anymore.
Nala was the second cat added to the family. She belonged to my Roommate's sister and was adopted during a rough time for them. The place where we live got a lot of bad storms that year and they had to move around a lot, my Roommate says that explains why Nala was such a mean old lady. She couldn't stand nobody and hated all of our Relatives.
Nala might have been mean but I miss her a lot. See, earlier this year she was out on the back porch enjoying the summer. Everything should have been okay but one of the people living near us didn't like cats and set out some poison. Nala got really sick and my Roommate had to take her to the Poking Place. I don't know what happened but Nala never came home...

(Nala was poisoned by a very bitter neighbor. She put anti-freeze in a bowl of cream and left it out. Nala got into it and by the time we realized what had happened and rushed her to the vet it was already too late, she was in the final stages of kidney failure.
She was put down at only four and a half years old. It's why when I let my cats into my yard I stay with them now. Thank God that bitter old woman moved away to a nursing home!)

My Daddy joined next, he was a pet store cat and somehow got away from my roommate's sister after only a year of living with them. He used to come around and they tried catching him but he'd gone wild and they gave up. They don't see him anymore... I guess he went away.

Rogue was the next one in the family. She was brought here right after Thunder died of old age, I guess it hit my roommate pretty hard and her mama thought it'd make her feel better to have another cat around. Rogue is okay, she likes me somewhat; she lets me eat out of her bowl at least. But for some reason she never leaves  My roommate's parents bedroom these days.

Salem came next, he was supposed to be on vacation here while the woman keeping him out of That Place went on vacation herself. My Roommate's mama liked the look of him and let him stay forever here. He's a cool guy but he doesn't like anyone but Rogue, they sleep in the same room together so I guess they must like each other a whole lot!

The final cat is Kira, she belonged to my roommate's sister. But when the sister had to move to a bigger apartment because of her growing family, the price to keep a cat was too much and she asked my Roommate if she would keep her. Kira is okay, I get along with her better than any of the others besides my mama. We play a lot and both sleep in the my bedroom (MY bedroom).

The last pet in the house is the dog, I don't like him but he's a huge coward, I only have to pretend to go after him and he'll run off. Kira likes him... ugh

(Sorry for the wall of text here. Hopefully the next posts will be more amusing :D Alice sure thinks they will be. She's already bugging me to take some pictures of her!
